VIP Kittens
URGENT!!
Foster homes needed for kittens!
The shelter, by its very nature, is a dangerous place for kittens. With hundreds of cats and kittens in the building at any given time, a cat who looks healthy can be shedding a deadly virus. Kittens who enter our shelter have never had a vaccine before and their immune systems are not fully developed. Every moment that these babies stay in the shelter, they risk contracting a life-threatening infectious disease from another cat. That is where YOU come in!

Caring for a kitten in your home instead of the shelter greatly reduces the risk of disease and death. By fostering kittens until they are big and strong enough for spay and neuter, you are truly saving a life!
Never fostered a kitten before? Don't worry---there is a kitten in need for every level of experience!
-A mom with babies is typically the easiest way to start fostering kittens. Mom does most of the work and you will just need to care for her and check in on the babies from time to time.
-Kittens without a mom who are 4-6 weeks of age are a bit more challenging to care for than a mom with babies. These kittens are in the weaning stage and can usually eat mostly on their own. They are still figuring out what food is, so they will need encouragement to eat. They also need to be kept warm, clean, and dry.
-Kittens under 4 weeks of age without a mom are the most difficult to foster. They are not eating on their own yet, so they are dependent on you. They will need to be bottle-fed every few hours around the clock. They also need to be stimulated to urinate and defecate. Fostering bottle baby kittens is certainly challenging, you may lose sleep, but it is incredibly rewarding to watch these babies grow up under your care!
